Emberling
Privacy Policy
Emberling is a habit app with a living companion. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how you stay in control. The short version: your data exists to run the app for you — we don't sell it, we don't show ads, and you can delete everything in one tap.
What we collect
- Account — your email address, or your Apple ID identifier if you use Sign in with Apple (Apple can hide your real email; that works fine with Emberling).
- Your habit data — the habits, goals, check-ins, reflections, and onboarding answers you enter.
- Companion chats — messages you exchange with your companion (Sunny), so the conversation has memory.
- Subscription status — whether you have Emberling Pro, processed by Apple and RevenueCat. We never see your payment details.
- Connected apps — if you choose to connect Google Calendar, Todoist, or Spotify, we access only what's needed to place your habits around your real day. Connections are optional and revocable in the app.
- Apple Health — if you choose to connect it, Emberling reads your step count and exercise minutes for the current day, read-only. This powers the movement card and gives your companion honest context about your day. Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with third parties or data brokers. You can revoke access any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
How AI is used
Onboarding answers and companion chats are processed by Anthropic's Claude models through our own server. Your data is not used to train AI models. We send only what's needed to shape your plan and answer your messages.
Where data lives
On your device first, synced to our backend (Supabase) so your account survives a lost phone. Data is encrypted in transit.
What we never do
- No selling or renting your data. Ever.
- No advertising, no ad trackers.
- No reading your data for anything other than running Emberling.
Deleting your data
In the app: You → Account → Delete account. This removes your account and data from our servers. You can also just ask us (below).
Children
Emberling is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll note it in the app. The effective date above always reflects the current version.
